Canadian Food | Bagel is a kind of crown bread whose dough contains malt, egg, sugar. It is scalded in honey water then cooked in a wood-fired oven.


Ingredients:

  • 300 ml water
  • 1 tbsp. teaspoon (5 g.) salt
  • 2 tbsp. tbsp (30 ml) honey
  • 540 grams of all-purpose flour or bread flour
  • 1 3/4 tbsp. (8 ml) yeast
  • 1 tbsp. 1 tbsp (15 ml) sugar for boiling



How to Make Canadian Bagel Recipe:

  1. Place all ingredients except sugar in the bowl of a food processor.
  2. Select the "dough" cycle
  3. Once the dough is done, let it rise for 15 minutes on the robot, then stop the cycle.
  4. Punch dough down on a floured surface, separate into 8 balls and form into bagels. Make the hole.
  5. Place on a baking sheet lined with foil and greased.
  6. Cover and in a warm place let rise 15 to 20 minutes.
  7. Prepare a large pot of boiling water (the water should boil but not boil, just small bubbles).
  8. Add c. water sugar.
  9. Boil bagels in water for 1 minute on each side, 2 bagels at a time.
  10. Remove from the water with a slotted spoon, place back on the baking sheet.
  11. Brush with 1 beaten egg plus a tablespoon of water.
  12. Garnish with sesame, poppy, flaxseed, etc.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven at 180C for 15 to 20 minutes.
